Our Director of Religious Education, Mary Collins

Mary B. Collins has been our Director of Religious Education since 2001 and a member of the congregation since the mid 1990's.  She graduated cum laude from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and spent time working as a magician and storyteller.

She has also been trained, through the Unitarian Universalist Association's Renaissance Modules and other training opportunities in the following areas:

  • Administration of RE Programs
  • Curriculum Planning in the Local Congregation
  • Developing a Philosophy of Religious Education
  • Training Religious Education Teachers/Leaders
  • Unitarian Universalist History
  • Unitarian Universalist Identity
  • Worship for All Ages

  • Welcoming Families with Special Needs Children

  • Our Whole Lives Sexuality and Values Program

As the Director of Religious Education (DRE), Mary Collins assists the Religious Education committee in planning and coordinating the programs for the religious education of children and youth, through Senior High School. The DRE’s responsibilities include: administering religious education programming (in consultation with individuals and groups), leader recruitment and training, conducting worship services and celebrating rites of passage.
