From the Board of Trustees

From the Board of Trustees

by Marie Dupree, Treasurer

After serving on the Board of Trustees for a very long time it is time for me to step aside. I let the BOT know this November that I will be quitting at the end of December. I will miss the BOT!

I became a member with my husband, Keith, almost 55 years ago. We started at the Inn of Redding or something like that, which was demolished shortly after we arrived there for the new Route 7, which was never built! We then went Morris Street School, where I looked at my son, Jon, being held by Mrs. Alexander!!!!  We became members in 1970!

When we purchased the Barn in 1971, Jon was 2 years old.

We then moved to where we are now, and stopped at Western CT State University while the building getting finished.  We announced that our twin grandchildren were born there at Western CT University. I remember Keith and I making the announcement!

Keith and I were very active in all manners of the UUCD and before that at Fellowship of Northern Fairfield Congregation. Keith and I were each President of the BOT. And I was Treasurer several times and once when the Budget was $16,000 back in the early years!

Keith passed on March 16, 2024. He and I were active members. Keith and I always remembered our fond memories of UUCD. And I will not disappear any time soon!

I am at a loss of words and don’t remember as well. Please excuse any typos.  And my memory is gone.
