February’s theme is Resilience and all services will relate to that idea in some way. Some services may differ slightly from these descriptions, as details of the main presentation aren’t finalized until a day or two before each service.
February 1 – Community Resilience – Rev. Sierra-Marie Gerfao
Through music and ritual, in this multigenerational service, we will explore resilience not as a personal trait, but as something that communities build together.
February 8 – Transformative Tubthumping Culture – Rev. Tony Lorenzen
Rev. Tony reflects on how individuals and groups can remain resilient and keep getting up whenever we get (or even feel) knocked down. Abolition Discussion AFTER Service on Immigration.
February 15 – Give Light: Finding Hope in Dark Times – George Kaufman
George Kaufmann will offer a palette of dark and light through song as we all navigate what feels like a dark time for us and our nation. Songs and stories can help us see where we have been in order to shed light on where we are and guide us to the hope we need to carry on.
February 22 – Me or We? The Risks and Benefits of Collectivism – Margaret Henderson
Our UU values tell us that we are all interdependent, and that we should work for group harmony and social equity. But what about autonomy and the rights of the individual? We’ll explore different models of collectivism and consider how best to balance mutual aid with individual opportunity.
