Sunday Services for April 2026 at UU Danbury
After the service at 11:30 am Pathways Through Membership Class A – UU History and Theology in the lower fellowship hall. April’s theme is Embracing Possibilities and all services will relate to that idea in some way. Some services may differ slightly from these descriptions, as details of the main presentation aren’t finalized until a day or two before each service.
April 5 – The Possibilities of Easter – UU Danbury Members: Anja Westenberg and Doug Williams
Anja Westenberg and Doug Williams lead an Easter celebration for all ages followed by an egg hunt on the UUCD grounds.
April 12 – The Labor of Rebirth – Rev. Tony Lorenzen
Rev. Tony Lorenzen offers a message for the Easter and Passover season about the work of starting over and how coming back to life isn’t a magical spell but a transformational process of crossing the desert and embracing possibility.
Abolition discussion on Palestine after the service at 11:30 am in the cottage kitchen.
April 19 – Eco-Socialism is Possible – UU Danbury Member: Stanley Heller
With crises of affordability, nuclear war and climate collapse staring us in the face there are still ways for the human race to prevail, but a rosy, auspicious, awesome future is still possible. Stanley’s remarks on this topic will include photos and video.
Stanley Heller studied history at Yale and Southern Connecticut State University, taught Social Studies and Computer Science to high school and middle school students for 40 years, and led the Middle East Crisis Committee of Connecticut that was founded in 1982. He is Administrator of Promoting Enduring Peace and a member of Jewish Voice for Peace and has written scores of articles on history and political affairs: many were collected in his book, “The Uprising We Need” (Amazon, 2017). He is also the host of the TV news magazine “The Struggle”.
April 26 – From Liberal to Liberationist – Rev. Tony Lorenzen
Rev. Tony Lorenzen reflects on the shifts in Unitarian Universalism and other progressive movements from liberal to liberationist and liberation requires imagining possibilities beyond the limits of liberalism.
