Did you know that singing can quite literally make you happier? The great Maya Angelou once said, “Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.” Countless research has indicated that singing has both positive physiological and psychological benefits. The act of singing releases endorphins, the brain’s “feel good” chemicals. At UUCD, we are re-launching the choir program this September and I could not be more excited! We have had a few wonderful rehearsal over the summer and everyone is gearing up for a music-filled year. I extend an invitation to anyone interested in collaborative music making and singing to join us as we build connections and explore music and artistic expression and their integral roles in our lives. Rehearsals will be held on the first and third Wednesday each month from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Let’s make music together!
