December 24th, 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Rev. Heather Rion Starr & DRE Sierra-Marie Gerfao Have a Very Merry Online Christmas!
The optimists among and within us are hopeful that this will be a very unique, one-of-a-kind year when we will have our whole congregation together for a single online Christmas Eve Candlelight service. (Next year at least some of us hope to be back to decking our Hall(s). The joyful benediction “next year on Clapboard Ridge Road!” comes to mind.) For this year, please join us in closing out 2020 with gladness (and relief) and celebrating the kindling of light from our homes during these longest nights of the year. We’ll also have a fun DIY Creche activity as a part of the service and invite you to start gathering up at home whatever you might like to use to create your very own 21st century Nativity scene. If you don’t have a creche or nativity scene at home, you might consider what you’ll want on hand to use for the telling. Will you create your scene from legos or playmobil figures, dolls or figurines, stuffed animals, or chess pieces? You may also want to consider creative choices you’ll make about your telling of the story by the scene you create. How will gender, race, disability and ability show up in the story you create, for example?
