Social Action: make your voice heard

If everyone who attended an April 5 protest in the US brought one person to an April 19 protest, there will be almost 11 million people protesting or 3.5% of the population.

The 3.5% rule suggests that when about 3.5% of a population actively participates in a nonviolent protest, it has historically led to significant political change. This principle is based on research showing that nonviolent movements are twice as likely to succeed compared to violent ones.

For Connecticut people, here is one protest we have heard about:

We can gather at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury beforehand to make/freshen up our signs and arrange carpools to Hartford.  Stay tuned for details.

There were almost 1000 HANDS OFF! protests on Saturday April 5.  These protests have been organized by 50501 https://www.fiftyfifty.one/ and Indivisible https://indivisible.org/

The April 5th Danbury protest was at the Danbury Town Hall from 4:00 – 5:30pm.  We made signs, we made new friends, we dressed for the weather conditions, and we arranged carpools. The rain did not stop us. We listened to speeches and peacefully stood with others.
