Imagination?

Oscar Wilde said, “Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.”

That statement puts a positive spin on our budget deficit. If you pledged last spring, by now you have probably received a letter and an email about the Challenge Fund.

  • Todd Zagorec has agreed to be the new chair of Stewardship.Todd, Peter Horton, Jeff Asher and Annie Senol worked on the Challenge Fund letters and emails.
  • Board members have already proactively increased our total pledges by more than 10% toward the budget.
  • An anonymous donor has established a $5,000 matching fund. The first non-Board members to pledge an extra 10% will have their contributions matched from this fund, doubling the impact of their support.
  • We are making progress, thanks to your generosity!
  • Please think of what UU Danbury means to you and contribute to the Challenge Fund. Pledge here.
  • You can also make an immediate donation here.

If you haven’t been paying attention or were not at the Annual Meeting where the budget deficit was discussed in detail by Carl Tichler, inflation and health insurance costs for our staff are driving our deficit. We are feeling the same squeeze that most people are feeling.

Think also about what you could donate to UU Danbury’s Annual Auction on Nov.15th. The Auction has been a great fundraiser. I can assure you that last year’s auction event and many of the events that were auctioned or sold on our Bidding Owl website were also lots of fun.
