May’s theme is Curiosity and all services will relate to that idea in some way. Some services may differ slightly from these descriptions, as details of the main presentation aren’t finalized until a day or two before each service.

Sunday, May 3rd – Imagining New Worlds – Steve Kennedy
Before a more just world can exist, it must first be imagined. Together, we’ll reflect on the power of collective imagination to challenge what is, nurture what could be, and inspire communities where every person is valued and free.

After the service Pathways Through Membership Class B – Getting to Know UUCD downstairs in the lower level of Fellowship Hall.


Sunday, May 10th – Connecticut’s Indigenous Women – Darlene Kasack
Darlene Kasack of the Institute for American Indian Studies & Schaghticoke Women’s Traditional Council reflects on the role of women in indigenous cultures in Connecticut. Indigenous women in the homelands of what is now Connecticut held central roles in political, economic, and cultural life. Their leadership shaped community decisions, land stewardship, and family continuity. In many nations, lineage passed through women, giving them influence in selecting and advising leaders.

Sunday. May 17th – Be Curious, Not Judgmental – Rev. Tony Lorenzen
With help from Saint Ted Lasso, Rev. Tony Lorenzen reflects on why it’s so difficult to replace judgement with curiosity and some strategies for staying curious and holding off on judgement. A Celebration of Marie Dupree. A New Member Welcoming Ceremony may be happening.

Abolition Discussion on Poverty after the service in the cottage kitchen.

Sunday, May 31st – Curiosity Kindled the Conversation – Rev. Tony Lorenzen
Rev. Tony Lorenzen offers a “Question Box Sermon” – those in attendance are given the opportunity to write down a question for the minister on an index card and Rev. Tony will use the sermon time to answer as many of them as possible.

A discussion on abolition and poverty follows the service.
