The mission and purpose of the Knitting Ministry was to knit shawls for people who are sick, in rehab, or at home recuperating from illness or injury or going through a hard time to provide comfort, warmth and healing thoughts. They knitted shawls for graduating seniors, a longstanding tradition, as a remembrance of UUCD when beginning their new phase in life.
They gave away a number of knitted items to charities, such as the Women’s Center, Dorothy Day Center, El Comida and others.
